Mentor session: Exploring the UK Music industry

Chris Proctor is a well-respected figure on the UK music scene. As Head of Programme at B:Music, the music charity responsible for Town Hall & Symphony Hall, Birmingham, Chris leads a team that is responsible for over 800 performances and events across the various spaces at both B:Music venues.

From executive producing concerts that were broadcast by the BBC, to working with Netflix to present the World Premiere of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, to co-producing the Metal in the Midlands gig celebrating the next generation of Metal artists from the West Midlands region, Chris is one of the UK’s leading programmers in the concert hall level of the music industry.

Working with a range of international artists and partners across a wide spectrum of musical genres, to supporting the next generation of emerging musical talent from across the West Midlands, UK and beyond, Chris is always on the lookout for that next opportunity to bring an exciting range of artists to to Birmingham.

Upcoming highlights include performances by Max Cooper, Arooj Aftab, The Piano: The Final Concert (with Love Productions/Channel 4), as well as collaborations with Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival, i-Jazz Italy, European Concert Hall Organisation, Music Beyond Mainstream and European Jazz Network.

  • Please arrive 5 minutes early to check in for your mentor session. Late arrivals (anyone not present at the start of their booked session) may lose their slot to a walk-up attendee.
  • If a session is fully booked, you’re welcome to try as a walk-up in case a booked attendee doesn’t attend.
  • We would recommend preparing a brief introduction about yourself, along with any specific questions or areas you’d like guidance on from your mentor.
