Oisín Rogers is a renowned publican with over 30 years’ experience shaping some of the UK’s most celebrated pubs. He is the co-founder of The Devonshire, in Soho, alongside Charlie Carroll and Ashley Palmer-Watts. Since opening in November 2023, The Devonshire has fast become one of London’s favourite pubs, famed for its wood-fired grill, in-house butchery and its pints of Guinness.
But The Devonshire’s success is also driven by Oisín’s deep affinity with the arts. The pub and restaurant houses a striking and eclectic collection of art, featuring works by famous names including Gilbert & George, Michael Craig-Martin, Blek Le Rat, to (friends of the pub) like Karc and Autistic Ian. The Green Room through the pub is a special spot, hosting talented musicians, 7 days a week. From spontaneous creative contributions by visiting celebs, to Ed Sheeran producing artwork that now hangs in the restaurant, the building has become a quiet meeting point for artists across disciplines.
This connection is no accident. Oisín has created an environment where creatives alike feel happy, comfortable and safe - somewhere lively yet discreet, where they can gather, work, and unwind without intrusion. That spirit carries through to the pub’s monthly songwriter nights, intimate evenings where emerging musicians perform original material in front of a room that is attentive, supportive and often quietly influential. There is a sense that anything might happen, new voices discovered, collaborations sparked, yet always within an atmosphere that feels grounded and genuine.
More broadly, The Devonshire reflects Oisín’s belief in the natural synergy between pubs and the arts: both are rooted in bringing people together, in fostering conversation and in creating spaces where ideas and expression can flourish. It is this sensibility - combining cultural instinct with a commitment to craft - that defines his work, and continues to shape The Devonshire as not just a pub, but a living, creative environment.
