Anthony Watson

Former England International Rugby Player

Anthony Watson is a former England and British & Irish Lions rugby international who enjoyed a distinguished professional career with London Irish, Bath Rugby and Leicester Tigers, earning recognition as one of the leading backs of his generation. Across more than a decade at the elite level, he represented England national rugby union team on the international stage and toured with the British & Irish Lions, building a reputation for professionalism, resilience and leadership both on and off the field.

Alongside his playing career, Anthony developed a strong interest in business, investment and innovation, with a particular focus on sports performance, health technology and consumer brands. He holds an Executive MBA from University of Bath and a BA in Leadership & Management from Northumbria University, complementing his practical experience in elite sport with formal academic training in leadership, strategy and business operations.

Anthony has invested personally in a range of high-growth businesses across sports technology, health and lifestyle, including STATSports, Rezzil, Field & Flower and Innoture. Beyond investing, he continues to fulfil a number of advisory and strategic support roles across both portfolio companies and wider ventures, leveraging his experience in elite performance environments, athlete networks, brand partnerships and business development. His investment and advisory approach is centred around long-term partnerships with ambitious founders operating at the intersection of performance, technology and wellbeing.

Anthony also played a key role in the establishment of Team England Rugby Ltd, helping shape an organisation focused on representing and supporting elite rugby players beyond the game itself. Through this work, he has developed experience across strategic partnerships, athlete representation and governance within professional sport.

Away from rugby, Anthony continues to build a portfolio career spanning investment, advisory work and entrepreneurship. He has a particular interest in artificial intelligence, sports science and preventative healthcare, and is currently involved in projects exploring how technology can improve athlete and patient outcomes.
