Gary Wilson

Huo Family Foundation

Gary joined the Huo Family Foundation in the newly created role of Director of Research in August 2024 to initiate and build a research portfolio and community in the UK and US on the impact of digital technology (social media, gaming and AI chatbots) on the brain, mind and behaviour of children and young people.

He brings almost two decades of experience in private philanthropy, having held roles at the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and at Wellcome. He has developed, implemented, and monitored research funding and strategic activities in a range of portfolios and different scientific disciplines.
Gary previously was a member of the Scientific Advisory Council for the US-based Paul G. Allen Frontiers Group, and served on the Steering Board for the UK Technician Commitment.

Gary holds an BA/MA in Natural Sciences from University of Cambridge, and a PhD in neuropharmacology from University College London.
