Mara Cracaleanu is a Romanian-born, London-based producer, Forbes 30 Under 30 Entertainment honouree, TEDx speaker, and founder of Melancholia, an international IP studio and production company working across film, television, and immersive storytelling between the UK, Romania, and global co-production markets.
Her projects have received over 70 international awards and official selections at festivals including BFI Flare, TIFF, Torino Film Festival, FIPADOC, Docudays, and Rhode Island. Her work has also screened internationally at UCLA, the Hollywood Women’s Film Institute, and the XV Florence Biennale.
Mara regularly participates in leading international markets and festivals including Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, EFM, and Marché du Film. Her docu-series project, developed through the Institute of Documentary Film’s Ex Oriente Series Lab, received the Council of Europe Series Co-Development Award. Her projects have also been selected and pitched at MIA Market, East Doc Platform, Docs Ireland, When East Meets West, and the European Genre Forum.
Alongside producing, Mara serves as a jury member at three U.S.-based film festivals and has collaborated with HBO and Netflix producers. She is a member of Women in Film & TV UK, Women in Film LA, and DAE, combining creative vision with legal and business training through diplomas in Law and Leadership.
