NME 100 Award Recipient, Surya Sen is a British-Bengali electronic producer and rapper from North London who came onto the scene in 2021. Taking part in building crucial connections with south asian collectives such as DAYTIMERS and DialledIn as well as being billed as ‘One to watch’ from the likes of The Guardian, Evening Standard, Mixmag and more.
His stage name is taken from Bangladeshi revolutionary Surya Sen, a fact that seeps into his output with track ‘Buccho Ni Ba Bhai’ being based on the 1978 murder of textile worker Altab Ali in a racially-motivated attack, which led to widespread protests and the recognition to improve the rights of Bangladeshi immigrants in east London made BBC Asian Network's list of top 20 songs of 2023.
