Mohamed Ali Diini, Somali-born founder of Iftin Global, is a globally recognized pioneer in trauma healing, systems change, and stabilization in conflict zones. After escaping Somalia’s civil war as a child, he returned as an adult to help break “waithood,” the stagnation preventing young people from productively shaping their communities. Through Iftin Global, he has integrated trauma healing into economic and workforce development, demonstrating that healing is not separate from stability—it is foundational to it. Mohamed coined the term “Trauma Tax” to describe the global economic and development cost of unresolved trauma. His work has been featured in The New York Times, BBC, TIME, and The Guardian.
